The American Constitution Society helped to host a wonderful event last Friday at the University of Minnesota School of Law…
The event brought in undergraduate and high school students in addition to law students. And we got to meet some amazing 6th graders who fought back against censorship (after they spoke out against abortion last year) and got their school to change its speech policy!
Annie’s mother Emily tells us that her husband Nicholas filed the lawsuit A.Z. vs. Nova Classical Academy on Annie’s behalf. You can read more about the students’ courageous struggle and victory here.
We also got to meet up with University of Minnesota Professor (and former Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press Executive Director) Jane Kirtley!
And we were thrilled to get some great reviews! An associate professor called our stop “one of the very best events the Law School has hosted this year,” and a student said it was “absolutely one of the best events I have attended during my three years here.”
Thanks to everyone for all the love, and to Ian Welsh for working hard to make the event a success!
