We kicked off Week 3 right where we left it last week — in beautiful Portland, Oregon — with one of our busiest days yet on the Tinker Tour.
First up was a morning stop at Gordon Russell Middle School, about 30 minutes due east of Portland, where students, staff and administrators made it feel great to go to work on a Monday from the moment we walked in the front door!
That welcome feeling continued during a quick pre-talk media interview with reporter Lisa Anderson from the Gresham Outlook local newspaper….
…throughout our talk to the school’s 8th graders in the gym…
…until we had to — more quickly than we wanted — bid everyone farewell.
Because at noon we had to be at Lewis and Clark Law School, which the Portlanders we talked to all said we’d never make on time, given the distance and traffic…but we did!
We didn’t have much time to snap a lot of photos before having to dart off to our next stop…
…but we loved being at Lewis and Clark, and had to hand it to busy law students who promote events everywhere -and we mean everywhere – on campus! Thanks to the American Constitution Society, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Student Bar Association for hosting us and giving us a warm welcome. And, best wishes with your upcoming mid-term exams!
Our last stop of the day was LaSalle Catholic College Preparatory in Milwaukie, Oregon…
…where we spoke to a sitting-room only, after-school gathering of students and community members….
…once again making new friends, of both the two legged variety…
…and otherwise!

Beth Biggs, Mary Beth Tinker and Kai, a service dog being trained by Beth to help individuals with autism, get acquainted at LaSalle Prep in Milwaukie, Ore., during a March 17 stop of the Tinker Tour
Another great day in the life of the Tinker Tour!!!
